I've seen five of this year's Oscar Best Picture Nominees - The King's Speech, Black Swan, True Grit, Inception and The Social Network. This is the first time I have seen so many of the nominated movies. I really wished that I had seen 127 Hours, but c'est la vie. Here's how I would rank the 5 I've seen:
  1. The King's Speech
  2. True Grit
  3. Inception
  4. The Social Network
  5. Black Swan
Your predictions/favorites?

  1. The opposite is true for me. Typically, I've seen all but a couple. This year, I've only seen a few. I just wasn't into the films that came out this past year. I saw 127 Hours, Black Swan, Inception, Toy Story 3, The Kids Are All Right, and The Social Network. Probably Inception, Toy Story 3, and The Social Network were my favorites. What did you think of last night's award show? I thought it was kind of a disappointment.

  2. Not as "grand" as some but I like Anne Hathaway a lot - she seemed like she was having a really good time and seemed so relaxed.

  3. This was the first year I didn't see all the nominees.
Loved Social Network, Kids are All Right, Inception, Toy Story 3.
Want to see 127 Hours but am afraid of the cutting off the arm scene!

  4. I was afraid of the arm scene too! Maybe that will be the time to take a bathroom break!

  5. Sorry. I had to weigh in again. Jackie: I saw 127 Hours when it premiered at the Telluride Film Festival, and EVERY screening had someone fainting. It became almost routine that the paramedics showed up. If you saw Last King of Scotland, and were able to deal with the dismemberment scene (even if that means you looked away a bit, or closed your eyes like me), I think you'll be okay with 127 Hours. When you see how Danny Boyle filmed it, I think you'll think it seems more mechanical than gory. It's tough to watch because you know it really happened, but it's manageable.

    Hope that helps! : O )

(P.S. Aron Ralston was at the screening watching the movie with us. Imagine that. If he can watch it knowing he had to live it, I bet you can watch it. I kind of couldn't believe he actually sat through it.)
