Quilt

So close . . . I have 5 more strips to attach to the top, but I think I might have to cut a few more. I really underestimated how many rectangles I would need. I originally cut out 150, each 7 1/2 x 7 1/2, but that was barely even half of what I needed. In the picture above there are 18 connected rows which is 216 scraps, and I have already run out of 4 of the fabrics that I used. I will definitely have to add a border to make it wide enough to comfortably sleep under.

In person the red doesn't seem as bright as it does in the pictures. I love all the different projects that these scraps came from. I sit and look at it thinking fondly of my past projects, sappy huh?
What do you mean you don't want me standing in the middle of the picture?

  4. That is BEAUTIFUL!! Was this your first big sewing project? Or have you been sewing things like this for a while? I only ask because this summer I'd like to try a small project or two. A quilt seems time consuming, but rather simple in terms of sewing. Maybe not, though?

  5. Marty - This is my first full sized quilt. I've made a small baby blank and a picnic blanket as well as clothes and other small projects before. As far as skill this is a pretty simple project, nothing but straight lines. Attaching them together has been time consuming, but not to bad if you do it all at once and make random pairings but cutting out the fabric was really the time consuming part.

For the picnic blanket I used really big squares and it came together in a day.

  6. Wow this is such a cool quilt! I wish I was able to make something like this. I love that you did strips rather than your traditional squares.
